Goodbye EPCOT, hello Hollywood!!
This month marked the end of an era — I had my very last shift at Living with the Land. It was such a bittersweet farewell to my first home here at Disney. But with every goodbye comes a new adventure… and mine is out of this world. Literally.
I’ve officially transferred over to Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and I’ve just finished training!
I’ve been out on the floor for a week now and I’m already loving it.
One of the coolest parts? I get to be in character the entire time.
I’m now part of the Resistance who are stationed on the remote outer rim planet of Batuu — a rugged trading post on the Galaxy’s Edge that’s become a secret base for those standing against the tyrannical First Order.
Since everything that happens in the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land at Hollywood Studios is in real Star Wars canon, I’m literally now a real Star Wars character!
For those unfamiliar, the Resistance is the rebel force fighting to restore peace and freedom to the galaxy after the rise of the First Order (think next generation Luke Skywalker & Princess Leia).
On Rise of the Resistance, guests are recruited into this fight and board a transport that quickly gets intercepted by a Star Destroyer.
From there, it’s a wild journey featuring interrogation rooms, stormtroopers, AT-AT walkers, blaster fire, and a daring escape — all wrapped into one of the most immersive rides ever created.
You’re not just watching the story unfold — you’re in it.
Outside of Batuu, things here in Orlando have been a chaotic mix of very wet and very hot.
Classic Florida summer weather — torrential downpours one minute, scorching sun the next, very much like the Gold Coast.
But whether I’m dodging rain with my poncho in hand or sweating through my Resistance uniform, I’m having a blast and feeling incredibly lucky to be part of something so epic.
Stay tuned for more galactic tales next month — and may the Force be with you.
